Jackson, Tenn. ºÚÁÏÂÛ̳'s James A. Baggett recently authored "Emancipation, Freedom, and the Freedmen's Bureau" that is included in The American Civil War: A Handbook of Literature and Research, edited by S. Woodworth, published in 1996.
Baggett was also recently reappointed for another three-year term on the Tennessee Humanities Council.
Baggett, a university professor of history and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will continue his service as a member of the board where he plays a direct role in the decision process for the grant-making body. He first was appointed to the board in 1993.
The Tennessee Humanities Council promotes scholarly excellence in the humanities discipline and annually sponsors the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, Tenn.
