Bowld Commons set for grand opening Feb. 2

JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 28, 2010 — 黑料论坛 students will celebrate the grand opening of the Bowld Student Commons building when they return for the spring semester Feb. 2.

The university will also hold a special worship service in the building Feb. 5.

The Spring 2010 Holla Back Party will begin at 8 p.m. Feb. 2 in the newly-completed commons building, the last of the structures to be replaced on the Union campus following the Feb. 5, 2008, tornado that caused more than $40 million in damage.

鈥淭he Bowld Student Commons will be a magnificent addition to Union鈥檚 campus and campus life,鈥 said Ken Litscher, Union鈥檚 director of residence life. 鈥淲e are excited about the way God is going to use this resource in the life of this university and the lives of each student.鈥

The party will include tours of the building, a 30,000-square-foot facility that includes apartments for two residence directors, a large multi-purpose room, three classrooms, two kitchens, game room, conference rooms, piano room, band practice room, TV rooms and gathering areas, outdoor built-in grills and outdoor patio space on both the first and second floors.

The Feb. 5 praise and worship service in the Bowld Commons multipurpose room will mark the two-year anniversary of the tornado and will begin at 7:02 p.m., the exact time the tornado hit the campus. Echo, a student-led group, will lead in singing, while Union President David S. Dockery will provide a devotional address.
