‘Cotton Patch Gospel’ opens March 14

JACKSON, Tenn.March 12, 2013 — The ̳ Players will present the musical “Cotton Patch Gospel” in the W.D. Powell Theatre on the Union campus March 14-19.

Directed by David Burke with the music directed by Michael Penny, the musical retells the life of Jesus as if in modern-day, rural Georgia. The production is based on the book “The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John” by Clarence Jordan.

The Jackson Area Plectral Society will provide music for the production.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on March 14-16 and March 18-19, with a special late-night showing of 11:30 p.m. on March 15 and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on March 17.

Tickets are $7 for general admission and $3 for Union students, faculty and staff. Tickets are available in the theater box office or by calling (731) 661-5597 or (731) 661-5287.
