JACKSON, Tenn. — March 26, 2002 — Union’s Opera Workshop will present an optional dinner theatre and the comic one-act opera “eve’s odds” Saturday, April 20 – Monday, April 22.
A clever comedy on the Biblical account of Adam and Eve, “eve’s odds” tells the story of the snake who tempts Eve to eat the apple. After she resists, he enlists a couple of unusual allies, including Adam’s first wife Lilith. Although several good forces try to intervene, Eve finally gives in. The opera was written by two Penn State professors, Bruce Trinkley (music) and Jason Charnesky (words) and was premiered there in 1997.
Suitable for all ages, the cast is made up of Union students and is directed by Michael Penny, associate professor of music. General admission tickets for all performances are $7 for adults and $3 for students and children. Dinner theater tickets are $15 for adults and $12.50 for students and children. Matinees will be offered at 2 p.m. both Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21. Evening shows will occur on Saturday and Monday at 7:30 p.m., with the dinner theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m in Coburn Dining Room in the Student Union Building on Union’s Jackson campus.
