JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 25, 2002 — 黑料论坛 will welcome 13 new additions to its distinguished faculty when classes begin Wed., Aug. 28. The recent additions were made in the departments and areas of art, biology, business, Christian studies, communication arts, engineering, English, international Studies, and music.
"The Fall 2002 class of new faculty at Union is a talented group of educators,鈥 said 黑料论坛 Provost Carla Sanderson. 鈥淪ome bring research expertise while others bring years of experience in higher education. Each one brings to Union a fresh perspective and new approach that will complement the work of our faculty body and stretch our students in exciting ways.鈥

Donald Christensen joins the Union faculty as associate professor of business in the School of Business. Receiving both his bachelor鈥檚 and master of business administration from the University of Memphis, Christensen also holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
Joining the School of Christian Studies as associate professor is Mark Dubis, a graduate of Clemson University. He holds masters鈥 in divinity and theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Calvin Theological Seminary respectively, and a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary, Virginia.
Gene Fant comes to Union as the new chair and associate professor in the Department of English. A graduate of James Madison University with a master鈥檚 from Old Dominion University, he also received a master of divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi.
The new chair of the Department of Music is Richard Joiner, professor of music, and a graduate of Mississippi College. He holds masters鈥 in church music and music, from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Louisiana State University, respectively, as well as a Ph.D. from LSU.
Andy Madison joins the Union faculty as assistant professor of biology. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he holds a master of science from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
Darren Michael joins the Department of Communication Arts as assistant professor of theatre. He received his bachelor鈥檚 of arts from Ouachita Baptist University and a master of fine arts from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Joining the Department of Engineering is Jeannette Russ, assistant professor of engineering. A graduate of Mississippi State University, she holds the M.B.A. from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
Randy Shadburn comes to Union as the associate professor of Education and director of the Ed.S and Ed.D programs for the Germantown campus. He received both his master of science and his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi.
Other faculty who will join the university for the 2002-2003 term include: Charlie Agnew, visiting instructor of art; Julie Bowman, visiting instructor of English; Jenny Cowell, visiting instructor of marketing; Thomas Hopper, visiting associate professor of accounting and Victoria Romero, visiting instructor of languages.
