JACKSON, Tenn. — March 9, 2005 — The love story of English author C.S. Lewis and Joy Davidman Gresham will hit the stage tonight when the ̳ Players present the drama “Shadowlands” at Union’s W.D. Powell Theatre.
Nic Pfost will play the role of Lewis, while Ashley Mitchell will portray Gresham. Union theater professor David Burke will direct the play.
The play opens Wednesday, March 9, at 8 p.m., with performances March 10-12 at 8 p.m. nightly. A Sunday matinee on March 13 will begin at 2:30 p.m., and the final two performances on March 14-15 are at 8 p.m. each night.
Following the performance on March 14, Nigel Goodwin will be on hand to lead a discussion about the play. Goodwin is founder and director of Genesis Arts Trust in Great Britain, a ministry to actors, musicians, artists, poets and others in the fine and performing arts. He is a board member of the C.S. Lewis Foundation and is associate director of the C.S. Lewis Summer Institute.
General admission tickets for all shows are $7, with the exception of opening night, which is “pay what you can” night. Reserved seats are available for an additional $1.
