SIFE to host local sixth graders for trade show

JACKSON, Tenn.March 1, 2006 — Local sixth graders from seven different schools will compete March 3 at ºÚÁÏÂÛ̳ in an annual event sponsored by Union’s Students in Free Enterprise organization.

The Junior SIFE International Trade Show will give students from 11 classes – more than 250 students total – an opportunity to present a project on which they’ve been working.

SIFE team members have been visiting the 11 classes to teach the sixth graders about foreign markets and international marketing. Students this year are creating snack food products to be sold in foreign markets.

Each school has a different country to research, such as England, Brazil, Thailand and India, and must then create a marketing strategy to promote and sell their product in that market.

At the trade show, the classes will set up a booth with information about their product and country. Each group will also make a presentation to professionals from local businesses and Union faculty.

The day will conclude with the top three classes making their presentations to the entire group, with one winner selected.

The trade show begins at 8:30 a.m. For more information, contact Sarah Fellows at (859) 333-4197.
